Darlene and Harry
Darlene's Bio

Darlene worked as a bookkeeper the summer of 1953.  Lester Sell returned home from Korea in the fall of 1954 and he and Darlene were married that same year.  She continued working as a bookkeeper until her first daughter was born.  The family lived around and then in Bradford until 1966 when they moved to a house near Tipp City.  They had a mini-farm, raising chickens and sheep.  In 1974 they moved into Tipp City.  When the youngest of her two daughters left home to enter college, Darlene reentered the work force.  She began as a bookkeeper with B. K. Photo in Troy.  She loved working there.  Her employer incorporated a card and gift shop with the camera store and Darlene managed the card and gift shop also.  Lester became ill with cancer in 1982 and passed away in October of 1983.

Mutual friends introduced Darlene to Harry Frakes and they were wed two years later.  They resided in Northern Kentucky, Harry's home.  He retired in 1989 and, with both retired, did some traveling and spent time with family.  In April, 2002 they moved back to Troy to be closer to Darlene's family.

Darlene remembers her most fun trip as the one taken to Columbus with the BHS Homemakers Club.  The teacher, Miss Rethmel, had her hands full keeping them under her wing.

Darlene would like to volunteer in a children's hospital and be a "rocking grandmother", rocking preemies, drug addicted babies and very ill little children.
